Thanks to one of my computer gurus, Zach Rosing, I now have instant gratification comment posting for my readers PLUS the two hours of my life back every day that I used to spend deleting spam comments by hand.  Thank you, Zach!

Since I am no longer moderating the comments before they appear on my blog, I am adding a comments policy.  It is based on the comments policies of two other bloggers that I respect:  Lou Harry, arts editor for the Indiana Business Journal, and Renee Wilmeth, writer of the food and restaurant review blog, FeedMeDrinkMe.com.

Lou Harry insists on full disclosure: everyone who posts on his arts and entertainment blog must be honest about who they are and what their connection is to the arts organizations they are mentioning.

I met Renee Wilmeth at the 2008 BlogIndiana conference.  She encouraged all of us to post comments policies on our blogs and gave permission for us to base ours on hers.

So, based on the examples of two of my blogging heroes, here is the comments policy for Indy Theatre Habit:

The theatre and storytelling arts are passionate topics and I invite passionate response.  However, it is my policy to delete blatant personal attacks, profanity-laced diatribes, unsolicited advertisements, or highly inappropriate comments that offer no substantial addition to the conversation.  Feel free to offer both positive and negative opinions, but be honest about your connections to the show being discussed, and try to only post words you would say to a person face-to-face, even with cocktails involved.

Wondering, where and how to post info and have you come out and do a “PREVIEW” of an upcoming production… email me for scheduling and here is a press write up.

Hi, Joyce. Thank you for your interest in Indy Theatre Habit!

I cut the long press release that you had posted here and pasted it into my own files. I will consider your show when I plot out my April calendar.

Currently, my blog does not have a place for people to post their own info unless it is in response to a post that I write. I sometimes publish press releases as part of a larger post, though, so I always appreciate whenever someone emails me a press release.

    My email address is amarylliswriter@gmail.com.

I read every show-related email I receive, and I try to see and write about as many shows as I can. Unfortunately, I have to refuse a lot of people due to time constraints.

In any case, break a leg with your show, and thanks again for your interest in Indy Theatre Habit.

    Hope
