At times, I was laughing out loud, but a lot of the time I was struck by how often the author makes rather insulting, trite, and, frankly, unfunny "jokes" about gay people. I am not an uptight person that gets easily offended at off-color jokes, but at least have some level of wit or intelligence to your potentially offensive remarks. I realize "times change" and perhaps... PERHAPS... these lines were not offensive to many in the 80's (even as I'm typing this I find myself changing my mind) but I believe true comedy transcends time, and Cooney's work never seems to sit well with me.
